How many Illustrations should I include in my Novel?

I love to write and draw, I want to include illustrations in my novel. I don't want to write a graphic novel just yet because I like writing in novel form and want to develop the story that way. (one day I might write graphic novels though). How many illustrations should I include? Where should they be? Can they be in the paragraphs and not only at the back of the book? Will publishing companies accept this if the story is really good?

  1. you can put the illustrations anywhere, on the back of a page, half of a page, beginning of a chapter, and if it is good obviously the publishers will except, especially if it is really good!
  2. It actually depends on your book. Were you aiming for a full colored book or a black and white one? Black and white books are less expensive compared to full colored that's why whichever you are planning on doing, you'd might want to cut back on your illustrations. If its full colored, you might want to all illustrations every page or every other page right? How many pages does your book have? When you said graphic novel, I'd assume black and white and hardly any pictures. Publishing companies now have all the resources to publish books with the same productivity and efficacy as that of regular black and white books you see in physical bookstores. Considering the fact that most books are in full color, you should choose a publishing company whose book’s are of the highest quality, bar none. It's fun that you get to see your book published with the same expertise and professionalism as the regular books that you see in bookstores. Good luck! :)
